Tuesdays with Morrie

Just finished watching the tuesday with morrie movie and this is what i think:

1. Morrie asked: "Whats wrong for being number 2?".

A simply-worded question indeed. But hell, YES. whats wrong for being number 2? People are striving to be number 1 BUT what the reason is really. Fame? Pride? To avoid the sarcasm and shamefulness that you are gonna face for being defeated by number 1? Doesnt the person who gets number 2 always get the chance, or should i say the advantage, to do better next time? You might think that 'Ah, its a plain excuse for not being the best.' HAHA. True enough. But where does being the best get you to anyway? Happiness? Yea a short-term one maybe because there might as well be a person who beats you down later on and makes your so-called happiness vanish in a 'Puff!-all gone' way. Of course, competition might bring you improvement. But thats only ONE of the many sideeffects that might arise. Say, in the end, you won. And so what? You might have lost something when you gain the other and the circle goes on and on and on. I know this is a bit out of line with morrie's question but i just feel like writing something. HAHAHA.

p/s:
I have come across a person's blog saying that 'never be satisfied' is his favourite quote, reason being that its not that you will 'never be happy' but that you are to strive to be better always. True enough and it suits quite well with the 'whats-wrong-for-being-number-2' question isnt it? Well, at least i think so though.

2. Funeral/Hospital seems to be the very place where people tends to meet up --> how sad.

Man, dun u think that people tend to show their kindness, or maybe love (and i doubt that very much), when someone is dying? You will see a whole bunch of people gathering around the dying bed of a person, trying to show their concern to the dying man. Well, if you really care about that person, why do you show up only when he has got few months or even weeks left to live then? Is it that you feel so guilty that you think that a 10-min-visit will make you feel better when the person is dead? If this is true, my inference of that mindset will be that you really think that a 10-min visit will pay off what you have not done for the past. And instead of trying to bring some joy to the person of which the whole purpose of the visit is supposed to be, you are making yourself feel better. SHALLOW, not to say selfish.

3. Morrie said, 'Death, Love and Marriage are the three things that most men are scared of.'

How true. We are afraid of death because thats the end of our life. There will be separation and if you are fortunate enough, there will be people who will cry for you. We are scared because we are leaving without anything that we have had. Worse, we dun know whats gonna happen after death. As morrie said, people are scared to love and be loved because of the fear of being hurt. Its like if you know there will be divorce at the end of the day, what is the point of marriage in the first place. How pathetic and negative.

4. Morrie said, 'Silence makes people uneasy.'

HAHA! Totally agree. But why? No idea.

Enough said. Time to EAT. My all time fav. HAHAHA.
